It seems that old man Winter has had his last hurrah and will give way to Spring! New pez have been falling like April showers and we look forward to the new pez blooms for May! Convention plans are underway for Pezamania and Pez on the River and the Sweets and Snacks Expo promises some exciting new information about the Pez lineup for 2021 – 2022!
Voldemort arrived in the Pez Collectors Store to join Harry, Hermione and Ron in the Harry Potter Pez assortment. The charm style or chibi style means that Voldemort isn't a scary looking pez, though the Death Eater snake on the stem does add a bit of edge to the dispenser! Like the other Harry Potter pez, it comes with mystery flavor candy!
The 2021 LaSpina Price Guide is now in its 32nd Edition! The book keeps expanding due to all the new pez releases, so it is now over 290 pages! It is still a checklist format with major head variations listed and is a great way to record your collection! These are in stock now!
The Bees are back, again! The USA versions include green stem Bee Original, yellow stem Bee Happy and black stem Bee Amazing.
We have just a few European Bees sets still available in the Pez Collectors Store. They sold out in Europe, so we can’t get more. This set includes 3 dispensers – the orange stem Bee Yourself, a blue stem Bee Kind and the exclusive, very limited crystal head on a yellow stem that says Bee Different.
We are still anxiously waiting for the European Tom and Jerry pez and the European Disney Cars with Rust-eze Lightning McQueen, Rust-eze Fabulous Lightning McQueen, and Jackson Storm cars dispensers. These have been in shipment for over 3 weeks so they should be arriving any time!
Mother's Day Pez were released first on the European Pez web store and then the same dispenser, on a different card, was made available on the USA pez website. They were limited to 2 per customer and still sold out quite quickly. The dispenser is a colorless glitter crystal ball, the same as the snow globes, and it is printed with Best Mom Ever with three little pink hearts. The European card has hearts on it – much like a Valentine card and the USA card has a floral background. The back of the card says Happy Mother’s Day then has a To: line and a From: line.
Clearly sales of these special holiday dispensers have been very good for the company since they sell out so quickly! Since the Mother’s day pez sold out, even at 2.5 x the normal price of a pez, they decided to do Father's Day pez as well. And, Europe will get one dispenser while the USA will get a different dispenser. The European Father’s Day pez is again a colorless crystal ball with a mustache printed on it. The black stem is printed with Superdad. The USA version is another colorless crystal ball printed with Super Dad in a superhero comic style star shaped background and the stem is not printed. The card graphics follow the super hero comic book style.
June 1 is the first scheduled shipping date for the new Space Jam pez assortment with LeBron James, Bugs Bunny, Tweety. There will also be a Space Jam twin pack with Bugs Bunny and LeBron James. We have our order placed and will get these in stock just as soon as possible!
In preparation for the Sweets and Snacks Expo, many candy companies give sneak peeks at upcoming products in the National Candy Association publication Candy & Snacks Today magazine. Pez provided some sneak peeks as well in the magazine.
Scheduled for release September 1, the Game of Thrones Pez Gift Tin is shaped like the Iron Throne and pictures it on the back of the tin. The pez characters include Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, and the Night King. Sadly, it appears that Tyrion is not on a mini stem as he should be, but maybe we are wrong and we just can’t tell with the dispensers in the tin. The tin will include 6 rolls of new Dragon Fruit flavor candy!
The Office Pez Gift Tin looks like a briefcase, with a paper sticking out! The back of the tin shows a scene from the office with the Dundie Award trophy, a cup with Worlds Best Boss, etc. The pez dispensers will be the characters Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert, and Pam Beesly. This gift tin is scheduled for release September 1 as well. There will also be twin packs – one with Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute and the other with Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly.
Another sneek peek was released of the new Full Body Santa Ornament. This ornament works the same way as the original vintage full body Santa, though it comes with a loop for hanging. The dispenser will be packaged in a Christmas gift box along with 6 rolls of pez candy.
Mini pez Christmas ornaments appear to be a new style blister packaging and will include the 2020 Santa on a mini stem and the snowman with red and white scarf on a mini stem. The Christmas pez are scheduled to begin shipping September 1.
In other news, a newly discovered Pez knockoff has been all the rage recently. Proin is a prescription medication for dogs with urinary incontinence and PRN Pharmacal representatives gave out these samples to Veterinarians at a nation al convention a few years ago. The dispenser looks like a pez and functions like a pez, but it does not say pez on it anywhere. You might want to check with your local vet to see if they happen to have one if you want to add it to your collection!
We have a few of the Funko Holiday Winnie the Pooh and Piglet POP! PEZ in stock. These were released as part of an Amazon Exclusive Disney Holiday box set. Funko offerings to retailers through September do not include any new POP! PEZ releases. Of course there could be some exclusive releases scheduled, but nothing that we have heard about. In fact, Funko CEO Brian Mariotti has just sold most, if not all, of his personal pez collection, so perhaps the interest in making new POP! PEZ is waning since there hasn’t been a new release other than exclusives since December 2020. We still have plenty of POP! PEZ releases available in the Pez Collectors Store for those who have holes in their collections they want to fill!
Pezamania 30ish is confirmed as happening, provided things continue on track and improving with the COVID-19 Pandemic. The convention is scheduled for July 22 – 24, 2021. Hosts Rick and Sue Marlowe will provide details through the website www.pezamania.com and on Facebook. We have confirmed our reservation with the hotel and hope to see many of you there!
The 8th annual Pez on the River convention sets sail from September 9 – 11, 2021. That is all the news for this month. Happy Pezzing!
All the best,
