The year is off to a great start with the release of the new 2019 European Pez Catalog and new pez releases from PEZ USA. Funko POP!+PEZ are keeping collectors busy and happy with lots of new releases and more to come in the future. There are a few changes to the lineup of pez conventions and gatherings in the USA for 2019 and this is the year for the VIP convention in Austria which takes place every 4 years.
New releases in the USA include How to Train Your Dragon Toothless and Hiccup. The pair looks great in the new packaging!
The Surprised Emoji pez is available now in the Pez Collectors Store and we are expecting the Unicorn emoji to be added to our inventory soon!
Easter Pez have arrived and the assortment includes two new dispensers! The full body chick sitting on its rump with his feet sticking forward is super cute and so is the sitting blue Bunny that is also a full body design. These new dispensers are also in new packaging that looks bright and fresh and they come packaged with Vanilla Cupcake flavored pez candies.
Mini Easter Pez in Easter Eggs should include the new full body blue bunny and chick heads on mini stems. The White Floppy Ear Bunny on the green mini stem that was expected last year is not expected make its way into the eggs at all, but who knows - maybe it will!
There is a new Easter Egg in Tube that features a blue egg with a picture of a chick hatching from an egg shell. These are available only in tubes.
Ugly Dolls pez will be arriving soon. The assortment includes Moxy, Ox and Uglydog. These are the main characters in the Uglydolls movie coming to theaters in May and featured in the series on Hulu.
PJ Masks will be released in the USA February 1 with Gecko, Catboy and Owlette, the same characters as the European release. We don’t expect to see any difference in the dispensers, but we will have them in stock soon!
March 1 is the release date for the long awaited Thanos and new Captain Marvel. Not only will these be available as singles, they will also come in a great new twin pack. There will also be a matching twin pack featuring Ant Man and Black Panther!
On the other side of the ocean, Pez International has launched their new catalog and many 2019 pez releases are on display at the ISM event in Cologne. Some of the new items are expected to be released in the USA as well. As always, we will carry all of the US and European dispensers as soon as they are available!
Pokemon Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle Pez are expected to be released for the second quarter in Europe. These are also expected to be available in the USA beginning April 1 and in the USA we can expect them to be available as singles in a Pokemon assortment and also in a 4 piece gift set possibly with their names printed on the stems.
Toy Story 4 pez will be released in Europe and likely will include the same new Bo Peep character scheduled for released in the USA on April 22. The Woody dispenser is expected to be update for the new release as well!
A Hello Kitty Mermaid set is being released in Europe and they are adorable! At this time, we don’t expect these to be released in the USA, but we will have them in stock in the Pez Collectors Store as soon as they are released in Europe.
Following the same lines as the Floyd and Mable Flamingo pez releases from 2018, Europe has unveiled another ‘kitsch to cool’ trending dispenser pair. The Barrel Cactus is making its fashion statement and trending in home décor (try a search for cactus sheets and see how many hits you get!), replacing the trendy flamingos. In Europe, these will come with Lychee flavored pez candy while they will come with assorted fruit flavor candies in the USA! It is awesome that Pez is keeping up with trends – sometimes before we know they are even a thing!
LOL Surprise is scheduled for release in Europe during the third quarter and in the USA August 1. There will be 9 different dispensers – 3 basic molds each with 3 different looks and different availability in the mix. There will be the Popular version (most common) Glitter Queen, Splash Queen, and Queen Bee, Fancy version (more scarce) Diva, Surfer Babe, and Hoops MVP, and Ultra Rare version (least available) Glitter Diva, Rocker and Purple Queen (Glitter Hoop MVP in Europe) dispensers in the assortments. They will all have the same stem color, so that won’t be a clue and each head will be hidden from view in a surprise box. Collectors will be able to do their own YouTube Unboxing videos with these!
Angry Birds 2 will get a new addition to the assortment in Europe. Silver will join Red, Bomb and Chuck in the third quarter.
The European Paw Patrol assortment will welcome Zuma the water rescue Chocolate Labrador pup to the assortment in the 4th quarter.
Pirate George and Princess Peppa will be added to the European Peppa Pig assortment in the 4th quarter.
The Frozen assortment in Europe will add Kristoff which is also expected in the USA in September in time for Frozen 2. It is likely that Olaf, Anna and Elsa will also have mold updates as these are expected in the USA for the new assortment.
Funko POP!+PEZ have been keeping collectors busy with many new releases and more still coming!
The Star Wars Cantina Series includes Snaggletooth and his chase version, and Ponda Baba and his chase version. However, the box for Ponda Baba has a typo – the name is spelled Ponda Boba by mistake. I am told that this will be corrected for the next production run, so be sure to get your misspelled factory errors now before they are gone and replaced by corrected versions! We have them in stock now though we are running low on the chase versions. We hope to have more in stock before we run out of our current inventory, but a few more chase versions will be in stock soon.
Masters of the Universe POP!+PEZ have been very popular! He-Man and his chase version which looks like Faker, Skeletor and his chase version, Trap Jaw and his chase version, Merman and his chase version, Mossman and Orko are all in stock, though the chase versions are selling out quickly! We have more coming, but the chase will always sell out sooner than the common versions! The next Funko POP!+PEZ release we can tell you about is Harry Potter! Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, each wearing the Sorting Hat, Luna Lovegood with her spectra specs and Dobby are included in the set. These will likely be available in early March though the arrival dates are not firm.
The 2019 convention/gatherings will kick off with a new gathering – The P.I.G. Event (Pez Informational Gathering) hosted by Josh Bales February 8 – 10 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 21st Northeast Pez Convention will be in Stamford, CT May 1 – 4. Richie and Mary Belyski always host a wonderful convention and this year will be no different! The 4th Michigan Pez Convention will move to June 20 – 23 and will change location to Ann Arbor Michigan this year. The 29th Pezamania Convention will be in Cleveland, Ohio July 18 – 20. I have always love summer camp and camping in the summer so this year’s convention should be a lot of fun. I haven’t cleared it with Rick and Sue yet, but I am hoping I can roll out my air mattress and sleeping bag in the lobby so I can leave the beds set up for room hopping. We primarily focus on sharing information about the pez conventions in the USA, mostly because we aren’t experts on all the various international conventions. That said, so many people we have spoken with plan to attend the 10th Anniversary Slovenia Pez Convention hosted by Ivan Jurjevic August 16 – 21 that we have to mention it. We plan to attend and hope you’ll be able to join us. The website for the convention hasn’t been updated yet, but hopefully it will be soon!
The 2nd VIP - Vienna International Pez Gathering will be held August 22 – 24. This convention takes place every 4 years and hosts collectors from all over the world. We will be attending and are really looking forward to it! Details can be found at http://www.vip-gathering.com/facebook.asp
October 10 – 12 is the 6th Pez on the River Convention hosted by Sandy and Cheryl Gardner-Ghionzoli. The website is www.pezontheriver.com and I imagine it will be updated soon.
