Quasi Vintage 3.9 Pez
Vintage pez are generally considered those with no feet and patent numbers of 3.8 or lower. Around 1987, pez added feet and the back spine was raised significantly higher than the front spine. The thin feet are about half as thick as the newer thick feet seen in some 3.9 and 4.9 and beyond patent numbers. Some collectors consider the 3.9 patent thin feet and even the 3.9 thick feet pez to also be vintage, but since they represent the transition period between vintage no feet and more recent thick feet, we have grouped these dispensers in a category we call quasi vintage for these 3.9 thin and thick feet dispensers.
The Chick in Egg pez version B sits in a red soft shell. These shells are the uneven zigzag edge, soft flexible plastic. This chick in egg is on a 3.9 thin feet Austria stem. This light green Incredible Hulk pez was produced in the late 1980's as a part of the Marvel Comics pez releases. This is the same mold as the dark green Hulk A, but the light green with removeable hair is somewhat less common! This Lamb B pez is hand painted with a streak of red across the bow, a red squiggle mouth and blue oval eyes. This version preceeded the stencil printed versions released later. The Panda B pez is not really a misfit dispenser, it just doesn't fit well in any particular series. It was not released as part of any particular series and doesn't have another group that it fits well in except maybe Animals. The Panda B pez was released with an ivory head or a white head. Bugs Bunny A is the first version of this Warner Brothers Looney Tunes pez. This tiger merry music maker pez whistle is on a green 3.9 thin feet stem. Merry Music Makers are Pez with a whistle in the back of the head. These were first produced in the early 1980's and continued thru the early 1990's. Often called MMM for short, these mmm pez dispensers make a great addition to any collection! This Droopy A with moveable ears sits on a very unusual experimental transition stem. This is a 3.9 patent stem with thin feet! The depth of the spine is the same as the depth of the channel, the same as a no feet stem, but the feet were added to the mold for this stem. This is seen occasionally on some 3.9 transition stems. The copyright on Droopy's head is MGM 1980 and 3.9 patents were in use by that time, so it is likely that old molds were used to experiment with...
This Dumbo Pez is from the Walt Disney Productions Dumbo movie. The Dumbo sits on a no country, IMC 1 stem. The head and snout are blue and he has a yellow hat. The stem is in excellent condition with no marks, melts, cracks or other problems. The head spring is not floppy and the sleeve spring works perfectly. Wonderful example of this great Pez.
